The dance group Lekstugan Verdandi in Sweden

Lekstugan was formed 1921. ” Lekstugan” is Swedish for a playhouse, in Sweden we use the same word when adults play and have fun together. We dance both Swedish and foreign dances, traditional and own compositions.

The music is played by three accordions, guitar and bass.

Performance

We play and dance on our own arrangements and other entertainments.

We arrange a dance festival in Landskrona with participants from southern Sweden and other places. Pictures from the festival 2003.

Sometimes, we travel away in order to meet other teams and get new influences. We have been in Denmark, Germany,  Estonia, Luxembourg, Hungary and former Czechoslovakia. In the summer 2003 we participated at an international folkdance festival in Holland. Pictures from Holland. In the year 2005 we performed on the big Baltic Sea festival in Grömitz in northern Germany with 123 participating teams. Pictures from Grömitz.

In the picture to the right we have invited the public to dance with us.

Training

On Sundays, we are gathering in our cottage called Verdanditorpet. The musicians begin with their training in the afternoon then it continues with the dance training in the evening. As the name implies we have primarily fun so the training suits also those who do not want to participate in a performance.

Lekstugan Verdandi is since 1980 members in the Swedish Folkdansringen.
